Large Residential Property — East Feliciana Parish

Project Challenge / Design Obstacle:

• Insulate a large residential building with multiple areas requiring a continuous thermal envelope.
• Improve energy efficiency and indoor comfort throughout the home.
• Choose an insulation system designed for long-term performance and reduced heat transfer.
  
  

Thermo-Guard Solution:

• Installed a full open-cell spray foam insulation envelope throughout the designated areas of the residence.
• Applied 3" average open-cell spray foam to 3,311 sq. ft. of walls.
• Applied 6" average open-cell spray foam to 4,269 sq. ft. of roofline.
• Applied 3" average open-cell spray foam to 1,035 sq. ft. of ceiling deck at the rear porch/carport area.
• Total spray foam coverage: approximately 8,615 sq. ft.

• Created a more complete and consistent insulated building envelope.
• Reduced uncontrolled air movement through insulated walls and roofline.
• Helped improve year-round indoor comfort.
• Reduced the amount of heat entering the home through the roofline.

Technical Note:

• Open-cell spray foam typically provides approximately R-3.5 to R-3.9 per inch and expands to fill irregular areas and gaps within the building envelope.
• The 6" roofline application provides approximately R-21 to R-23 of insulation value, while the 3" wall application provides approximately R-10.5 to R-12.
• Spraying the roofline rather than simply insulating the attic floor can help bring the attic into the home's conditioned envelope.
