Water Facility — Paincourtville, LA

A municipal water facility in Paincourtville needed insulation to help protect its interior environment and equipment from Louisiana’s heat, humidity, and temperature fluctuations.

The pumping facility required a durable insulation system that could provide thermal protection while also helping control air movement and moisture around the building envelope.



Project Challenge / Design Obstacle:

  • Maintain a more controlled interior environment within a working water facility.
  • Help reduce heat transfer through the building’s walls and roofline.
  • Provide protection against condensation and moisture concerns associated with Louisiana’s hot, humid climate.

Thermo-Guard Solution:

  • Installed an average of 2" of closed-cell spray foam insulation throughout the designated walls and roofline.
  • Created a continuous insulated envelope around the facility to improve thermal performance and air sealing.
  • Applied the foam directly to the building surfaces for a seamless insulation system with minimal gaps or thermal breaks.

Results:

  • Reduced heat transfer through the building envelope.
  • Improved temperature control inside the facility.
  • Helped control air infiltration and condensation around the insulated surfaces.
  • Added a durable insulation system designed to perform in Louisiana’s demanding climate.

Technical Note:

  • Closed-cell spray foam provides approximately R-7 per inch while also functioning as an air barrier and moisture-resistant insulation.
  • At an average 2" thickness, the installed foam provides approximately R-14 of insulation value, helping improve thermal performance in a high-humidity environment.
