USDA REAP Grants for Rural Business

For our agricultural partners and rural small businesses in Louisiana and Mississippi, the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) is a game-changer.

For rural businesses in Mississippi and parts of Louisiana, the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) offers grants covering up to 50% of total eligible project costs.

01   Up to 50% Cash Grant:

The USDA now covers up to 50% of total eligible project costs for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements. This is a grant, not a loan—meaning it does not need to be repaid.

02   Who Qualifies?

  • Agricultural Producers: Farmers with at least 50% of their gross income coming from agricultural operations.
  • Rural Small Businesses: For-profit small businesses located in eligible rural areas (typically populations under 50,000). This covers vast swathes of Mississippi and Louisiana parishes outside of major metro hubs like New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

03   Stackable Savings:

The REAP grant can be combined with the Federal ITC. Imagine receiving a check for 50% of the project cost from the USDA, and then claiming a 30%+ tax credit on the remainder. This "Double Dip" strategy often results in an ROI of under 2 years.
